The 3d Signal Company, successor to the 5th Field Signal Battalion of World War I, has a distinguished history of its own. Throughout the first war the 5th served with the 3d Division in the Aisne Defensive, Champagne-Marne Offensive, Marne Offensive, St. Mihiel Offensive and the Meuse-Argonne battle. In 1921 the re-organized battalion became the 3d Signal Company.
