The Minot AFB "Peacekeepers" provide a variety of services for both the base and local community. The Weapons System Security section is responsible for security of all priority resources. The Law Enforcement section performs base patrols and base entry control operations. Members of the Military Working Dog section provide patrol dogs, drug suppression and explosives detection services for the base, as well as frequent demonstrations of dog team capabilities to base and civic groups. There are six activities that fall under the Security Forces Administration section. Information security, personnel security, reports and analysis, resource protection, crime prevention, plans and programs share their office space in room 110 in building 547. Weapons skill proficiency for the peacekeepers is the function of the 5th SFS Combat Arms Training and Maintenance Branch. Small arms training, range scheduling, weapon maintenance and firing make up the important responsibilities of this branch. Training on 11 different weapons and 12 courses of fire takes place on the CATM grounds. Annually, CATM members inspect and repair more than 5,400 weapons. |
